This work in progress uses articulating speaker designs - horns and pendulums - to create a modulating sound stage adding physical movement to amplified audio signals.

The 5 horns are tuned to a frequency range of 400hz to about 8khz. They spin freely with speed and direction controlled via software. This enables their speed and position to be composed along with the sound source.

The 6 pendulums consist of a full range omni speaker, a tubular mount, a base and a counterweight. They use a solenoid to maintain pendulation and their cycle period is set via the ratio of counterweighting.

This system is comprised of 11 independent channels enabling infinitely complex soundscape opportunities.

KDRD is a robotics company developing solutions for non-destructive, rapid deployment automation of legacy audio equipment. Kieran is the co-founder and lead hardware designer.
